Caring for Your ALMEADOW Pieces

Gold vermeil and sterling silver each respond differently over time, and the right habits make a real difference with both. The gold layer here is 2.5 microns, heavier than standard flash plating. Even so, no metal or stone is entirely maintenance-free — a few consistent habits are the best way to protect the piece you've invested in and get the most out of it over time.

How to Use Your Polishing Cloth

Every order includes a two-sided polishing cloth — a treated inner layer and a finishing outer layer, the kind used to maintain the jewelry over the long term, not just a quick wipe-down.

925 sterling silver: use the treated inner side first to lift tarnish, then finish with the outer side for shine.

Gold vermeil: use the outer side only for a gentle, all-over shine — skip the treated inner side.

Gemstones: use the outer side only, or a separate soft, dry cloth — skip the treated side entirely.

Gold Vermeil Care

Take it off before swimming, showering, or a hard workout — chlorine, saltwater, and sweat wear on plating faster than everyday wear does.

Let perfume, lotion, and hairspray dry fully before putting a piece on.

Store it dry, ideally in a soft pouch or lined box, away from humidity.

If it needs cleaning, lukewarm water, a drop of mild soap, and a soft cloth are enough. Skip anything abrasive.

Sterling Silver Care

Silver darkens naturally over time — that's a property of the metal, not a flaw in the piece. Regular wear actually slows it, since the natural oils in skin help keep it at bay.

A polishing cloth brings shine back without anything abrasive or chemical.

Gemstone Care

Keep stones out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from high heat. Color can soften gradually with extended exposure, particularly in lighter-toned stones.

Avoid sudden temperature swings — a hot shower right after time outside in the cold, for example. The shift can stress a stone's setting.

Clean with a soft, dry cloth only. Skip steam and ultrasonic cleaners, which are too harsh for these settings.

A Few Habits That Help Everything

Put jewelry on after makeup, perfume, and lotion, and take it off before sleep, a shower, or a workout.

Wipe pieces down with a soft cloth after wearing, before they go back in their pouch.

Give each piece its own space in a drawer or bag. Pieces touching each other is the most common cause of scratching.
